North Bay saffron, chile add local flavor to Mediterranean dishes

Here's a great article from Diane Peterson at the Press Democrat about our saffron and Piment d'Ville - another "niche farm" in Northern California that grow Basque-style peppers.  Both are used to great effect at the Boonvile Hotel by Michelin-star chef Perry Hoffman.
